My first time experiencing a Wassailing this weekend where tradition dictates that we bless the health of the orchard in the hopes that they thrive and provide a good harvest.

This involves a Wassail King (or Queen) leading the processional song and activities including Morris Men dances and song, lighting bonfires and ends with a big round of noise from the crowd (this could be hitting pots and pans or generally shouting), as far as I can understand this was to ward off bad spirits that may ruin a crop.

Looking forward to next year! Heres to a good 2023 crop.

Tempted by the new Macbook Pro with M2 Pro or M2 Max chip. I’m keen by the M2 Max but debating the need for all that power, especially for digital design and development projects. But I do want to experiement with 3D… Something to noodle on.

Enjoying the return of Winterwatch on the BBC. Once the bike is sorted I’m looking forward to getting out there with the camera and seeing what I can find around our new area.

I always love KEXP sessions but their latest with The Smile was extra special. 10/10

Really enjoying taking notes on the fly like this. I’m expecting this space to be where I post thoughts the most so I do need a better way of organising them, but also a better way of posting. A while ago I was playing around with posting a note via SMS using Twilio and IndieKit — I must reopen that and give it another go.

Finished A Clash of Kings — some clear differences from the TV adaption but nothing which has impacted the overall story as yet. I enjoyed this more than A Game of Thrones but that was mainly because of the lack of difference between the TV and book adoptions. I do wish I read the books first but there you go. On to A Storm of Swords!

We’ve just posted Lotties Wisdom Panel DNA kit after much fussing to get the swabs in her mouth for cheek cell samples. Not sure what to expect but looking forward to getting the results back nonetheless.

For almost a month I’ve been playing around with the early access release of Cron — touted as the next generation of calendar apps for professionals and teams. The experience is overall improved from Google but I’m not yet convinced that this will completely “change the game”. I have been using it as an individual so next steps is to see how it plays with my work calendar.
